Social Justice Worriers 2

As a follow up to yesterday’s post concerned with the incident at Friday’s launch of Frank Field’s BS Justice Party we’ve discovered this tweet from former Wirral councillor Louise Reecejones (LRJ) which was posted on the same day.

As you may have witnessed Frankenfield can be seen in the Youtube video we linked to yesterday accusing  LRJ of being responsible for inducing a heart attack on a now deceased former Labour councillor. Now LRJ  alleges that she was ‘assaulted’ by ‘Frank Fields lynch mob’ resulting in a ‘bruise’.

It’s all getting very messy isn’t it? And you all know how we love a messy drama! So it would appear that now is not the time for us to sail into the sunset. Pass us the catering size pack of multiplex popcorn …

Social Justice Worriers

A ‘Manifesto’ will be published soon apparently. Frank Field is absolutely not making it up as he goes along . Honest.

So how did the launch of the Birkenhead Social Justice Party go yesterday Frank? Not quite as planned by the looks of it!

There was the forewarning in the local press that something momentous was going to happen outside Birkenhead Town Hall involving Frank Field. However when it transpired that he wasn’t throwing the towel in on his political career the one man and his dog that turned up had a, er , field day. The one man in this case being the spouse of former Wirral councillor Louise Reecejones (LRJ).

As you can see below Mr LRJ had a right old go at Frankenfield:

You can make your own judgment about Mr LRJ’s claims but for ourselves we’re sick of people telling us they’re going to expose Field and the fact he has more skeletons in his closet than a fancy dress hire shop in the run up to Halloween. Yeah, yeah, whatevs…

We’re far more interested in the bit players in this particular psychodrama. Inevitably we see Field groupie ‘Independent’ Cllr Moira ‘Matron’ McLaughlin doing her usual defence of the indefensible act but then Field has pulled this stunt on her behalf before, most notably in the aftermath of the investigations in adult social care that nearly brought down the Labour-controlled Council in 2012.

We’d be particularly interested to know whether the ‘Independent’ Matron has nailed her white rosette to the mast of the Birkenhead Social Justice Party (BS Justice Party) and accordingly whether she will be calling a bye-election anytime soon ? Our guess is probably not . After all look what happened to fellow Rock Ferry ‘ independent’ Chris Meaden who was cast into the political wilderness at the last local elections. We’ve probably done this gag before but we can’t help asking – What’s the difference between a  Wirral ‘independent’ and a supermarket trolley? A supermarket trolley has a mind of its own …

We’re also interested in the nervous looking press officer /special advisor (?) hovering in the background in the obligatory navy blue suit who must be already rueing the day he took this gig on . Does he know what he’s let himself in for? And has anyone whispered the word ‘Wirralgate’ in his ear?…

Having said all that we don’t think ‘Wirralgate’ ,his association with Tom Quinn or the various unsubstantiated allegations that we hear about Field that will lead to his eventual political  downfall. It will be his own hubris…

Pip Pops Off : A Wirral Leaks Tribute

Before we provide you with our post local election reflections we need to commemorate that a week ago today the Annual Meeting of Wirral Council saw the  end of an era (pronounced error) as Phil ‘Power Boy Pip’ Davies’ tenure as council ‘leader’ officially ceased.

Here at Wirral Leaks we couldn’t let the momentous event pass without providing our own fitting tribute to a ‘man’ who given the choice between right and wrong would always choose the latter option . In our opinion this didn’t make him a political game player it just made him weak. A man who always seemed uncomfortable with ‘leadership’ being thrust upon him after the ignominious fall from grace of that consummate political game player Cllr Steve ‘Foulkesy’ Foulkes  in 2012, in the aftermath of a series of damning reports. This is how we commented on his ascendancy to the top of Wirral Council’s greasy pole:

Screen Shot 2019-05-19 at 19.21.10

As we were to subsequently find out if Power Boy Pip (as he was to become known to Wirral Leaks readers) excelled at anything it was ‘denial’. At this point we’d like to take a leaf out of Kipling’s ‘Just So’ stories and pose the question : ‘How did ‘Power Boy Pip’ get his name?’ Well, thereby hangs a tale from 2013 which you can read here where we mocked how Pip invested in himself ‘Strong leader powers’ and a Cabinet system that screamed weakness. A council criticised for its secrecy becomes less open and transparent,  a council criticised for its lack of accountability concentrates its power in someone who abuses it ,  a council criticised for the conduct of its elected members lets its councillors run amok  as George Davies, Louise Reecejones, Jim Crabtee and Steve Foulkes show their contempt for their ‘leader’ with their out of control conduct and yet somehow Pip only publicly criticises Reecejones – go figure .

We nailed it in our We Leak, Pip Squeaks  post when we wrote :

Of course we believe that ultimately what what will do for Power Boy Pip is his failure to rein in Cllrs  Steve Foulkes and George Davies and to stand up to Birkenhead MP Frank Field over the Wirralgate scandal. These are not the actions of a leader – this is a man out of his depth clutching onto a red flag of convenience and not waving but drowning………………

Pip was never a leader but always the ‘front man’ –  a turd-polishing pollyanna . The pinnacle of this ‘achievement’ being Local Government Chronicle’s ‘ Most Improved Council’ Award in 2015.

a-prick

Needless to say Pip took his cue from the ne plus ultra of local political game players, Frank Field, who as we know , has spent 4 decades surrounding himself with ugly bullies and useful idiots . Conveniently Pip was to find many of both, not only in his own party but in the paid ranks of public servants at Wirral Council. However where Pip really began to become unstuck was the alliance made in hell (via West Kirby) with his infamous appointment of politically motivated spin doctor Martin Liptrot to whatever job ‘Liptrotsky’ wanted. The pitiful correspondence from Liptrot to the Council ‘leader’ dictating terms of his  grace and (political) favour employment was pitiful to behold and further evidence of Pip’s reliance on others to sustain him in power. This episode and further details of this disastrous appointment can be read in The Liptrot Mystery.

This reliance on the bad will of others has meant that the past 7 years have been one one long pay off party for some really horrible senior council officers . The routine seemed to be –  Inept? Here’s a cheque. Inept and knowing –  here’s a bigger cheque. Inept , knowing and prepared to do Pip’s dirty work (Hey, Joe  name your price!…)

Compare and contrast that with the fact that throughout his tenure as ‘leader’ (and even before that…) there wasn’t a Wirral Council whistleblower he wasn’t prepared to screw over. Except, of course, the one set of  bogus , so called Wirralgate ‘whistleblowers’ who had him over a barrel and could shaft him at the drop of a tape recording. Luckily for him he had those ‘special leader powers’ to get him out of a deeply corrupt hole of his own making by deciding to bring the Highways contract back in house and give Gary’s Gang what they wanted all along.  Obviously when the hired hands with their hands on the ‘record’ button it’s time to go visit your grandkids in Canada. For more details read here

So many unanswered questions and it shames councillors of all parties that Pip was allowed to quietly depart without them ever being asked. We never did hear the end of the Wirralgate saga did we ? The one that led to front page news stories, and an ‘independent’ investigation that has never seen the light of day ? But oh, believe us before we go you will dear reader!…

Typically, Pip isn’t around to see whether any of the 20 pledges in his much lauded 20/20 Vision thing are ever realised in 2020. Funny how we don’t hear about the pledges anymore isn’t it? There was a time when it seemed that every Labour councillor had to preface every utterance with reference to ‘pledges’ . Could it be that it was all complete bollocks and another reason Pip bailed out before the 20/20 Vision was, to mix a metaphor with a bit of the Bard,  proven to be the usual smoke and mirrors signifying nothing?

However whilst Pip will be gone he will not forgotten as the last ever Leaky Awards will be known as Pip Memorial Awards for Public Dishonour – winners to be announced in a glittering awards ceremony hosted by Pip beneficiaries – the Wirral Chamber of Commerce.

With our nasty head on (do we have any other? ) we were going to wish Pip a very short retirement but we suspect that as he merrily frolics with the Davies clan in Canada and he’s finally free of a position to which he was manifestly unsuited that the red suffused face ( part high blood pressure/part embarrassment) will be replaced by the rosy glow of contentment of knowing that he managed to blag it for so long.

Finally …do we have an extradition treaty with Canada ? Askin’ for a friend!

Murphy’s Law

Sheila Murphy

Photo: ITV news

We note that veteran Wirral based political campaigner Sheila Murphy has spoken exclusively to ITV news who tell us  “the woman who used to be Labour’s top official in the North has left the party – saying membership had become like ‘being in an abusive relationship’…”

Murphy spat her dummy out the day after the recent local elections  presumably because she had foreseen the likelihood that the Green Party would win the Birkenhead & Tranmere ward  after previously bemoaning that Labour Party members were actively supporting the Green Party :

“We were knocking on these people’s doors and they were openly telling us they were voting Green instead of Labour and even had Green posters in their window.  I reported them to the Local Campaign Forum and was told: ‘It’s their choice’.” For good measure, the local branch even posted on their Facebook page that the Greens were not the problem – their Labour council was…”

Whilst Murphy has continued to campaign in Wirral under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership, she has now suddenly turned round and claimed that Jezza is to blame for ‘allowing a certain type of behaviour to happen.’

‘Certain types of behaviour’?  It would seem that ‘certain types of behaviour’  doesn’t include the reprehensible conduct of the likes of former Labour councillors Jim Crabtree or Louise Reecejones , current Labour councillors Steve Foulkes and George Davies that Murphy has chosen to ignore but which have rightly appalled other Labour Party members . It’s no coincidence that the Birkenhead & Tranmere ward was, until the recent local elections, held by Wirral Council ‘leader’ Phil Davies. It’s clear the local branch of the Labour Party wanted him gone ( for ‘certain types of behaviour)  and gone he has ( a Wirral Leaks ‘tribute’ will follow shortly).

Murphy says that the local election results which resulted in loss of overall control  of Wirral Council by Labour and which is now a minority administration under Cllr Pat Hackett is ‘self-inflicted’. Whilst we can’t say we disagree with that assessment it seems to us that in this case  Murphy’s Law is , not just a case of what could go wrong will go wrong , but a law for one set of Labour Party members and another law for The Right Kind of Labour Politician …

Cannon Fodder

kate cannon

There’s a curious email doing the rounds that inevitably found its way to us. It concerns Cllr Kate Cannon who was elected as the Labour councillor in Pensby and Thingwall following the fall from grace of her former Labour colleague Louise Reecejones . I’m sure we don’t need to recount to Wirral Leaks readers the LRJ rap sheet – but what about her successor?

It is interesting to note that information about Cannon is only coming to light now only after she was elected in May 2018  so we have to question the motivation for this particular leak with local elections (not involving Cannon) coming up. Whatever the motivation it’s all blog fodder for us – so let’s go:

First of all we are told that Cllr Cannon “set up a Ltd company to provide services as a ‘consulting nurse’ to solicitors…”

So what you might say is so concerning about that ? Well ,the answer provided is as follows :

“What is worrying is that Cllr Cannon was “struck off” by the National Council of Midwives for “academic malpractice’, “dishonesty’ and “attitudinal problems.

It is actually the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and its report can be read HERE

Now as is our wont we thought we’d check out the detail of the Conduct and Competency Committee hearing held at the Old Bailey in April 2014 which Cllr Cannon did not attend and which led to the following sanctions

screen shot 2019-01-30 at 16.37.28

The charges against Cllr Cannon who was employed as a trainee Advanced Midwifery Practitioner by the Wirral University Teaching Hospital Trust (WUTH) and studying on the Advanced Midwifery Practitioner Course at the University of Chester were that :

  1. Falsely represented that the following written academic modules were all your own work when that was not the case:
    1. Clinical decision making; and/or
    2. Fetal blood sampling; and/or
    3. Post anaesthetic recovery skills
  2. Failed to notify the Trust that you were being investigated for academic malpractice by the University of Chester.
  3. Your actions as set out at charge 1 and/or 2 were dishonest.

So it would appear that ‘Copycat Kate’ had plagiarised colleagues work and, when found out, at first denied it , then continued to lie about her misconduct :

screen shot 2019-01-29 at 16.28.57

Whilst the author of the email who disclosed this information makes the valid point that “It would seem that Cllr Cannon has a history of lying that lead the (NMC) to strike her off, but that is fine with the Labour Party for her to be a Cllr…” we consider that there is the  more significant wider issue of public interest to be considered. As we know the local Labour Party is riddled with world class liars (yes, we’re talking about  Cllrs Davies , G & P and Cllr Foulkes in particular) who make Copycat Kate seem like a rank amateur. So it should come as no surprise that the local Labour Party endorsed Cllr Cannon as a election candidate. However the NMC considered that there was a risk that she may act dishonestly in the future :

screen shot 2019-01-29 at 16.54.20

Isn’t it ironic that we introduced Cllr Kate ‘Copycat’ Cannon’s controversial mother Yvonne Nolan to our readers with a post titled The Nolan Principles

Doubly ironic as our many readers – but seemingly very few councillors – will know that  ‘The Seven Principles of Public Life’ are:

  1.  Selflessness
  2.  Integrity
  3.  Objectivity
  4.  Accountability
  5.  Openness
  6.  Honesty
  7.  Leadership

In the light of The Nolan Principles and the judgment of the NMC we have to ask ourselves whether Cllr Cannon is fit to hold public office, especially when we are not aware of any appeal being made against the NMC sanction and when it includes making decisions that impact on her former employers at WUTH ? …

More Good Advice – Top Ten Tips For Tentative Trots

Top Ten Tips

Our readers have  rightly brought to our attention that we missed a trick with our Good Advice story as we all know that the most useful piece of advice that any local Labour politician wanting to remain in public office on Wirral can receive at the moment is to publicly pledge allegiance to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Although @ronnieabbey1 is pure comedy gold we’d like to help prospective Labour councillors to avoid having a post- deselection public meltdown on Twitter .

Screen Shot 2018-11-07 at 17.24.08

So here’s our cut out and keep ‘Top Ten Tips For Tentative Trots’ advising how the politically ambitious can ensure that the allowances, expenses and lucrative gigs on outside bodies can continue during this difficult time of political upheaval ( i.e. Cllr Steve ‘Foulkesy’ Foulkes)

1  Buy some Jeremy Corbyn memorabilia ,a t-shirt , a mug , an oven glove, a ‘Jez We Can’ baseball cap .  Just make sure that whatever you purchase wasn’t made in a third world sweat shop by a 9 year old earning less in a day than your monthly Labour Party subscription ( £4.17) . Indeed we understand that until he stopped going to Birkenhead Constituency Labour Party meetings Frank Field was delighted to see so many Labour Party members wearing ‘I JC’ t-shirts until  he realised that they were not on the path to spiritual enlightenment but exhibiting the first signs of Jezzamania , leading him to comment  : ‘He’s not the messiah, he’s a very naughty boy’ !

2  Acquaint yourself with that quaint old ideology known as ‘Socialism’.  Try not to get it confused with ‘National Socialism’ . Know your ‘Das Kapital’  from your ‘Mein Kampf’! We don’t want any more racist incidents involving local Labour party members do we?!

3  Study the works of Marx and no, we don’t mean watching ‘Duck Soup’ or ‘A Day at The Races’ on the Sky Cinema Greats channel !

4  Have your photograph taken wearing your ‘I JC’  t-shirt and ‘Jez we Can’ baseball cap (preferably at a foodbank, on a picket line or wiv da yoof ) and get it printed on your election leaflet.

5 Use the word ‘comrade’ as often as you can especially when communicating with the lumpenproletariat*  ( i.e. Foulkesy)

6 Stand in front of the mirror with a hairbrush (or if your folliclely challenged – a rolled up copy of the Morning Star) and practice chanting “Oh Jeremy Corbyn…” to the White Stripes tune ‘Seven Nation Army’

7 When approached by the media to comment on the Frank Field withdrawal from the party whip  situation reply : ” Never heard of him … was he the one that sang ‘She Taught Me How To Yodel’ ?

Listen we know Field gets bloody everywhere but it’s important that you adopt a Stalinist approach on the subject. So despite the fact that many a time he got you out of trouble of your own making you must make every attempt to erase the last 39 years from history (i.e. Foulkesy) . Frank Ifield may have sang ” I Remember You” but when it comes to Frank Field you don’t ! – got it?

8 Emphasize your working class background by mentioning in your election leflet that you once went to Maccy D’s in your pyjamas but didn’t much like it as you were shocked to discover that ‘smashed avocado on sourdough’ wasn’t a menu option

Emphasize your revolutionary credentials by letting people know that you might possibly go and see the new Mike Leigh film ‘Peterloo’ –  the story of the 1819 Peterloo Massacre where British forces attacked a peaceful pro-democracy rally in Manchester – but only if  ‘Mamma Mia 2’ is no longer showing.

10 Finally, the most contemporary way to show both your political devotion and guarantee your political survival would be to get a Jeremy Corbyn tattoo. A temporary one obviously …

Frank Field Vox Pop Part 2

Frank press cuttings 003

Above are some of the redacted comments that according to Frank Field friend and ally Mail on Sunday have appeared on social media in the wake of his resigning the whip and his comments about bullying, intimidation and anti-semitism in the Labour Party (and particularly the local Labour Party). Whilst undoubtedly it wouldn’t be a pleasant  experience to be on the receiving end of such comments we have to ask ourselves what exactly does he expect when he labels people ‘thugs’ , ‘toerags’ (and worse) and then suddenly discovers that there are people without his power and influence who only have a PC and a pottymouth and aren’t afraid to use it! Is any of the above worse than referring to a council officer “a bloody useless Chink” as Field’s electoral agent once did ? No, it isn’t – because the people making the comments don’t have the power of  Cllr George Davies ,Deputy Leader of Wirral Council, to directly prejudice or influence important political decisions.

What’s more according to former Wirral Labour councillor Louise Reecejones (LRJ) Field himself once advised her that she needed to “harden up ,bullying is part of politics”. Whilst we acknowledge that LRJ is not the most reliable of sources it is something we can well believe her on this one as it is the type of arrogant statement we can imagine him saying. LRJ made the claims in a ‘press release’ to the Daily Telegraph in the knowledge that they were going to publish a story which included damning comments from Field.  In the interest of journalistic balance The Daily Telegraph chose not to print a word of LRJ’s statement in defence. Consequently LRJ has chosen to share it on social media and here it is . Please note : the typos, grammatical errors and spelling mistakes are LRJ’s own.

My press release to the telegraph who are publishing a negative story about me tomorrow thanks to Frank Field.

I am responding to this from Hospital, I have been poorly for over three years and spent most of this year in Hospital, proberly brought on by stress.Mr field and his supporters are fully aware I have been so poorly and not even been active in the party, and yet he continues to behave in this way.

The panel you refer to I am not even going to justify with an answer, because there are no words to describe the lengths people go to to discredit and try to break a person. There is also Franks friend ex Labour Cllr James Crabtree who was convicted after his threats against me following the murder of Jo Cox MP.

Frank field has publicly attempted to discredit me, and the charity I am involved for disabled children and their families, this is minuted in Birkenhead CLP. Frank field gave me advice that I need to harden up, bullying is part of politics, well I said it then and I say it now. Bullying has not place in a civilised society and as an MP I was shocked that was your view.Franks conduct speaks for its self, any MP who writes for the S@@ rag has no place in politics.I wish Frank well for the future and any other Councillor waiting to take the headlines over the coming weeks with resignations from Wirral Labour.

I fully support Jeremy Corbyn and have supported him before he was ever on a leadership ballot paper, he is a proud man with clear values and integrity. This is what our country needs and this is what some members don’t want. I am proud to be a socialist with a kind heart, always putting others first and working hard to make a difference.

Times have changed, Birkenhead CLP and the other three Wirral CLP’s are now pleasant, its an environment that I can now allow my children to attend without the fear of shouting and nastiness. We welcome all new members of all backgrounds abilities and ages for friendly, socialist debate.

Kind regards,Louise Reecejones

The Daily Telegraph‘s sister paper The Sunday Telegraph continued the saga of internal strife within the local Labour Party by including a tale re-told by long- time fawning Field acolyte Cllr Moira ‘Matron’ McLaughlin and a clash of handbags in the street between Labour councillors Angela Davies and Tony Norbury , this classy little incident apparently reduced two Labour Party members to tears – though presumably not McLaughlin, Davies and Norbury who would be well aware of Frank’s dictum that ‘bullying was part of politics’  Read full story here : Ghost of Militant Barges Through Birkenhead

All of which adds to the impression of a local party about to implode. However according to leaked emails we have received none of this should come as any surprise to North West Regional Director of Labour , Anna Hutchinson. The emails were sent to her in July and September 2016 and includes compelling evidence of  allegations of misconduct by Labour politicians including Field, Cllr George Davies, former Labour  leader Cllr Steve Foulkes and current Wirral Council leader Cllr Phil Davies .

We have agreed not to publish the correspondence for the time being but it has been agreed that we can publish the prophetic and telling statements which end both of the emails.

Email 1 : “You may choose to ignore these allegations but you can’t say you weren’t told …”

Email 2:  “You have a problem with your politicians on Wirral – a real problem”

Now with Wirral Council ‘leader’ Cllr Phil ‘Power Boy Pip’ Davies doing his bit for ‘The Gang’ by asking for an investigation into the local Labour Group. Read more here – Labour Council Leader Demands Bullying Investigation In Wake Of Frank Field Resignation  – We would suggest that knowing what we know Pip needs to be careful what he wishes for…

Exclusive : Will Frank Field have the Labour Whip withdrawn?

Local Labour Party leakers have provided details of a particular interesting item on the agenda at the next meeting of Birkenhead Constituency Labour Party (CLP) . As you can see item 5 concerns a motion about Birkenhead MP Frank Field and his recent voting behaviour in the House of Commons which we reported here : Brexit Quiz

Screen Shot 2018-07-24 at 14.14.40

What makes the motion even more intriguing is that it emanates from the Labour stronghold of Bidston & St James and what makes it positively fascinating is that the Chair of that branch is none other than former Wirral Leaks regular Louise Reecejones (aka LRJ) . And so it would appear that LRJ’s ‘retirement’ from local politics was a particularly brief episode and as we all know hell hath no fury than a woman who was previously suspended by the local Labour Party.

Here we present Bidston & St James Branch motion in full submitted by Secretary Brian Parsons (only addresses and contact details have been omitted)

Screen Shot 2018-07-24 at 14.06.46

Screen Shot 2018-07-24 at 14.07.04

Not only is the request for ” The withdrawal of The Labour Whip from Frank Field MP” of particular interest as this means that that the MP would be effectively expelled from the party (but keeps his seat) and must sit as an independent until the whip is restored but also the revelation that Frankenfield  refuses to attend Birkenhead CLP monthly meetings. The latter news comes as no surprise to us as we’ve regularly commented on his highhandedness and reluctance to put himself in any position where he’s challenged or held accountable. What’s more they should know by now that their constituency MP is far too busy writing for The S*n or taking advantage – and we use the term advisedly – of photo opportunities at foodbanks and the like to grace the Birkenhead CLP with his celestial presence.

Along with the news that six Labour councillors have received written warnings after they abstained at a recent Wirral Council meeting we are particularly pleased to report that even if Field doesn’t get the Labour Whip withdrawn –  the local Labour old guard will almost certainly see to it that he doesn’t  –  it is reassuring to hear that the old certainties are over and the peasants are revolting…
