It’s a ‘No’ to Norbury

Red Card 009

Empty political gestures are no substitute for deeply held beliefs.

Considering how gleefully the local press reported that the first attempt by the Birkenhead Constituency Labour Party to elect a successor to Frank Field ended in an embarrassing lock out  at Birkenhead Town Hall you’d have thought they’d be happy to report that Mick Whitley eventually got the gig. But no – they’ve got stories to tell about how Frankenfield is saving Birkenhead from the ravages of a corrupt political regime (take your pick as to whether that’s a Labour controlled council or a Tory controlled government). Whilst we’re on the subject of Field’s alleged saving of the increasingly depressing House of Fraser store in Birkenhead can someone explain his preference for Mike Ashley over Sir Philip Green? Answers on a postcard. Mark your entries with the word ‘HYPOCRISY’…

However if you think Whitley has it bad trying to gain some leverage with the local press spare a thought for the runner up in the parliamentary candidacy race. Poor Cllr Tony Norbury – who received 116 votes compared to Whitley’s 224 – is having a torrid time of late. Not that we’re particularly sympathetic. Norbury always seemed to be spectacularly naive as to how local politics works. At the end of the day he just didn’t have the right connections  – be that with the press ,unions or self-serving politicians . Moreover can we just say that political posturing with placards is no substitute for a deeply held belief in tackling racism, especially within the local Labour leadership (i.e. Cllr George Davies).

Apparently Norbury’s week got even worse as not only is he not off to Westminster – can you imagine? – he’s also off the local panel list and therefore cannot run as a councillor in May 2020!

They say bad luck comes in threes so we can only hope and pray that his Buxton bolthole wasn’t flooded during the recent Biblical downpour!…

Fieldwatch 3: ‘Everyone has their price…’

2CYNICS

We are really, really sorry we started this ‘Fieldwatch’ mullarkey .We promised we’d keep you posted on the media appearances of the political anomaly that is Frank Field. He’s the MP for Birkenhead but he’s not a Labour MP and not an independent MP either. What exactly is he? – all a bit unsatisfactory but as far as we’re concerned Frankenfield has been more than unsatisfactory for many a year.

However the alerts we get at Leaky Towers about Field are absolutely, bloody relentless . Media whore doesn’t come close to describing the media coverage this man craves from predictably, Wirral Globe and Liverpool Echo , inevitably The S*n, The Daily Mail, The Daily Telegraph , The Guardian and surprisingly to Horticulture Week (!) to The Sydney Morning Herald… on and on and on it goes.

We’ll just concentrate on a couple of stories and taking a leaf out of Field’s playbook we admit that we’ve chosen them for our own purposes. If you want further details you’ll have to take us on trust and Google the stories yourself.

First – let us consider Frank and prostitution. He’s certainly got his money worth out of this particular ‘story’. There have been a number of press stories where he claims that women have been forced into walking the mean streets of Birkenhead directly because of the implementation of Universal Credit. It may be false,it may be true but nothing stops a Fieldian anecdote from becoming a press-worthy fact . What’s more surely he’s been well acquainted for a long time with people at Wirral Council getting big money for screwing over the people of Wirral (and sometimes each other)?

Second – and again inevitably – Field gegs in on the ‘Sir’ Philip Green being identified being ‘not a very nice person’ by Lord Hain using – some might say abusing – parliamentary privilege in the House of Lords . Who knew Green could be such a serious baddun’ ? We all bloody did!

Field’s press comments haven’t deviated from his own belief that Green is a baddun’ but skirts around the more problematic areas of NDAs (Non Disclosure Agreements) where money is exchanged in return for silence, or bullying or allegations of racism. Might we suggest this could have something to do with such matters being a bit too close to home when it comes to his local political allies…

Fieldwatch

Field-and-Ross-feat-670x352

Frank Field and Tory Party donor David Ross are described as ‘controlling members’ of new free school – you don’t say! Pic courtesy of Schools Week

As we highlighted in our Bye, Bye, By Election! Hello, Brooklynhead Boulevard! article Birkenhead MP Frank Field’s political activities are somewhat curtailed at the moment. However we also predicted that this wouldn’t prevent Field seeking further publicity in pursuing his own political and personal agendas.

Therefore we are instigating a series of posts titled ‘Fieldwatch’ where we identify some of the MSM stories featuring Frankenfield during his self imposed political sabbatical which we find particularly interesting.

First up is this scary development ,one which surprisingly  (or perhaps ,unsurprisingly) has not appeared in the local MSM, and which was announced in Schools Week under the headline Labour MP joins millionaire Tory donor to open new free school

Veteran Labour politician Frank Field and high-profile Tory donor David Ross have been granted permission to jointly open a free school with a view to taking control of some existing schools later this year.

The Frank Field Education Trust is the brainchild of the MP for Birkenhead, and Ross, the millionaire founder of Carphone Warehouse, who chairs the New Schools Network.

Initially called The Cathedral Academies Trust, Field’s chain was approved as an academy sponsor in 2016, but changed its name in April to acknowledge that “most people referred to it as Frank Field’s Trust”.

Frank’s long-term commitment to resolving social inequality remains a key focus, and the aims of the trust transcend any political interests

Documents show the government has cleared the trust to open the Liverpool Free School, though it is not known where and when the school will start accepting pupils.

The chain has also expressed its desire to take control of a number of existing “outstanding” schools later this academic year.

The news follows Field’s decision on August 30 to resign from the Labour Party whip, meaning he is no longer required to vote with the party in Parliament. He quit in protest over Jeremy Corbyn’s handling of Labour’s ongoing antisemitism crisis.

Although this is quite possibly one of the most frightening things we’ve ever read we did guffaw at the lines about the aims of the trust transcending any political interests – yeah right ! – and of course most people would refer to the academy sponsor as ‘Frank Field’s Trust ‘ because ultimately it would appear to be an ideologically driven vanity project.

Could it be that the local MSM who are in thrall to Field have been reluctant to cover this story as it is reminiscent as of an embarrassing episode from July 2009. As Field wrote on his blog at the time he was as an enthusiastic supporter of plans to establish a ‘Birkenhead Boys’ Academy’

I was in Birkenhead Park at a press conference with David Hughes. David is a local boy who has made good, big time.

He is the sponsor of the new Academy that will replace two of Birkenhead’s schools.

David is very clear that the new Academy will produce an education which is technically based and prepares young people for highly paid skilled jobs.

He is also fanatical about the school being sports-based and being open for business for the local area for sixteen hours a day, 52 weeks of the year.

We will now have our work cut out in getting all the plans in place so the Academy opens next summer. A spanking new school needs to be built.

Read full blog post here : Academy is opportunity to address needs of young people

Unfortunately plans came unstuck a month later when the following information about the lead sponsor of the Birkenhead Boys Academy was revealed by the Times Educational Supplement (TES) :

A businessman who failed to pay a fine of more than  £1 million has been appointed as the lead sponsor of a new academy in the Wirral, raising further concerns over England’s academies programme.

David Hughes, who has been named as the main backer of Birkenhead Boys’ Academy in the Wirral, was involved in a price-fixing scandal when he ran the Allsports chain of sport shops.

Mr Hughes’s company was fined £1.35 million in 2003 by the Office of Fair Trading for participating in a cartel that agreed to sell replica football shirts at set prices.

Following an appeal by the company, the fine was increased to £1.42 million because of Mr Hughes’s failure to co-operate with the original investigation.

Allsports did not pay the fine and two years later the company fell into administration. Mr Hughes, a multimillionaire, also ran a property business, which went into administration this year. The entrepreneur was named as the lead sponsor for one of two new academies planned for Birkenhead last month.

Read full story here : Sponsor has £1m in unpaid fines

Even his close political allies at Wirral Council weren’t prepared to indulge Frankenfield’s fantasies after this particularly spectacular failure of due diligence, which is just as well as the thought of a ‘spanking new school’ endorsed by the Birkenhead MP  doesn’t bear thinking about. We just hope Field has done his background checks on another sports retailer who he hopes to court and fete. As was reported last week Field is currently wanting to meet with Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley and negotiate for the House of Fraser store in moribund Birkenhead Precinct to remain open. Read here

Mr Ashley is most certainly a colourful character about whom it was alleged that at a business management meeting he drank 12 pints with vodka chasers and vomited into a pub fireplace. So that promises to be an interesting meeting! More significantly Ashley has  been repeatedly severely criticised over his business, employment and financial practices . Read here and here

Isn’t it curious how selective Field is in his public criticism of certain businessmen? Compare and contrast above with his repeated (if justified) criticism of ‘Sir’ Philip Green. Can you imagine the feigned outrage if anyone suggested that there was even a whiff of  anti- you-know-what involved?

All we will say is that with the Labour Party Conference coming up in Liverpool next week and Jeremy Corbyn addressing the faithful at the Pier Head over the weekend that Field is going to have to go some with his MSM mates if he’s to upstage his potential political nemesis.

The Importance of Being Frank Ernest Field

35629347_10160472256990134_7393890305776287744_n (1)

Something stinks in Birkenhead : is it the stink of skunk or the stench of corruption?

Once again we ask ourselves is there a bandwagon that headline -grabbing media whore Frank Field won’t shamelessly leap on?

We refer to a couple of  further examples from this week . First is the case of 6 year old Alfie Dingley who had been denied cannabis oil to treat his severe epilepsy. After a prolonged campaign by his family and following 12-year-old Billy Caldwell being granted a limited licence this week for a 20-day supply of medical cannabis to also alleviate the life-threatening effects of his seizures Bromsgrove MP and Home Secretary Sajid Javid granted the UK’s first ever ‘life-changing’ permanent medical licence for cannabis.

However prior to this welcome news we were treated to this melodramatic performance by Birkenhead MP in the House of Commons :

Alfie met the Prime Minister eight weeks ago and she instructed the Home Office to act; on Saturday, he had 30 seizures. Will the Home Office give  the right hon. Member for Hemel Hempstead (Sir Mike Penning)—who is seeking to catch your eye, Mr Speaker—Lady Meacher and I the authority to go through border control with the drugs that Alfie needs? If the Minister will not act, may we?

See here: Medicinal Cannabis

We can’t help thinking that Sir Mike Penning and Lady Meacher sound like characters out of an Oscar Wilde play. Whilst Frankenfield sounds like a latter day Lady Bracknell with that strangulated, superior-sounding syntax. However we would have paid a lot of money to see this unlikely trio being frisked at border control and Frank in particular being asked by a customs officer : ” Is that a spliff in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?” (yes, we know it’s cannabis oil which is at the centre of the debate but you get our drift.)

Obviously we’re not suggesting that the great Victorian moraliser personally partakes of the devil’s lettuce and that his offer of drug smuggling was purely a selfless act but who better to source cannabis (in any form) than the Right Honourable Member for Birkenhead? Walking round what’s left of the Pyramid shopping centre – and let’s face it the pyramids in Egypt are in better shape –  brings a whole new meaning to the phrase  ‘a trip to the town centre’ as the of the pungent stench of weed assaults your nostrils whether you want it to or not.

The second example of dubious and desperate attention seeking is his long running and frankly tedious feud with ‘tax-efficient’ tycoon ‘Sir’ Philip Green . In the latest episode Frank Field asks what Sir Philip Green “has got to hide” in BHS report

Sir Philip Green’s most public and staunch critic Frank Field has questioned his attempts to cover up a report exposing his business dealings prior to the downfall of BHS.

Last week it was revealed that Green’s company Taveta had attempted to secure an injunction preventing the findings of an investigation into BHS’s finances prior to its collapse form being published.

“Well, what has he got to hide?,” Field told the Press Association.

“I am writing to the body to ask them about each draft of the report underlining their decision, who had access to those drafts, and what changes did they request.”

Once again we think something stinks to high heaven. Wirral Leaks readers may recall  Frankenfield making a similar song and dance about a Wirral Council report written by his old mucker , ex- judge Nicholas Warren, way back in July 2015 when the headline read : Storm as MP accuses council chiefs of ‘abusing power’ over Wirral whistleblower inquiry delay

Field  said:  “I am deeply troubled by this delay.

“It is almost ten weeks since the report was completed and filed, and we are clearly getting nowhere.

“Officers within the council need to face up to their moral responsibilities and realise that these delaying manoeuvres are an abuse of their power.

“It is an insult to the whistleblowers and to the people of Wirral, who have a right to know what has been going on.

Astonishingly it is 3 years later and the report still hasn’t been published – yet Frankenfield has been strangely silent on the subject of the public’s right to know exactly what went on and what has gone on since. To which we can only use his own words and ask :

” Well, what has he got to hide?”………….

Sir Slippery v St Slimy

Sir Slippery 023

We’ve been sent a series of press clippings which demonstrate that the unseemly row between former BHS boss and yacht -loving Sir Philip Green ( ‘Sir Slippery’) and Birkenhead MP and ocean-going hypocrite Frank Field ( ‘St Slimy’) continues unabated.

Let’s get one thing clear –  no-one’s hands are clean in this long running  debacle even though Sir Slippery may have acted within the law his conduct remains highly questionable. However our issue is mainly with Frankenfield who , as is his wont, is wanting to take the moral high ground in a sleazy tabloid tit-for-tat between the Daily Mirror and Daily Mail.

The  long running feud was re-ignited in recent Daily Mirror front page where they christened the tawdry tycoon as ‘Sir Slippery’ and continued over the weekend in the Mail on Sunday and again in Monday’s Daily Mirror which picked up on the exclusive Mail interview. Mail readers must’ve been torn as S*n columnist Field is unsurprisngly their pet Labour MP!

Sir Slippery 032

What’s more it all seems very reminiscent of a case closer to home where again the ‘saintly’ Field took issue issue with another man called Green and used the same tactics and with the same result!

So let’s take a look at some selective quotes from the stories and comment on he worrying similarities .

Sir Slippery 012

Sir Slippery maintains that St Slimy is a man who has a personal vendetta against him. However based on what we know we are more inclined to believe Green ‘s claim that Frankenfield is  mainly ‘interested in publicity for himself ‘

Sir Slippery 046

Significantly  ‘Sir’ Philip Green was cleared of any wrongdoing following an investigation by the Insolvency Service  and therefore can continue as a company director and yet Frankenfield continues to pursue and publicly condemn the tycoon. All very similar to his pursuit of former Wirral Council director Dave Green .

Sir Slippery 022

There were inquiries undertaken by the Audit Commission , Wirral Council and investigations instigated by Field undertaken by Serious Fraud Office and Merseyside Police into allegations that EU procurement rules were broken by Dave Green and ‘whistleblowers’ supported by Field suffered detriment as a result of reporting the alleged breach.

Sir Slippery 026

This is countered by Sir Slippery’s claim that Field also intimidated/frightened the Pensions Regulator . This must be very familiar to Wirral Council officers at all levels of seniority who have faced the same tactics from the saintly people’s champion. This includes the former Wirral Council CEO Graham Burgess who would not bend to Field’s will when it came to paying off the whistleblowers who he ‘championed’ – mainly because they had the means to incriminate his electoral agent , Cllr George Davies and other political allies , in serious  misconduct . Therefore Burgess had to go – and go he did.

Sir Slippery 027

And yet still Field implores PM Theresa May to strip Sir Slippery of his knighthood much in the same way he wanted Dave Green stripped of his livelihood.  As a fully paid up member of ‘the Establishment’  who never fails to use his contacts  and connections to get what he wants and to crush any opposition to his carefully constructed public persona and to counter criticism of his cronies  Field’s statements below are early contenders for ‘Quote of the Year’ . As ever the hypocrisy is simply breathtaking.  And as for asking the question as to whether May is with ‘the big guy or the little guy’ we think that after this week’s events we all know the answer to that question don’t we?

Sir Slippery 033

For a change we’ll leave the last word to ‘Sir’ Philip Green rather than ‘St’ Frank. Whilst Green keeps it as classy as his ‘hot-felon’ dating daughter we find it hard to disagree with his description of the current incumbents (of all parties) in the House of Commons .Sir Slippery 041

Wirral Leaks Weekly Dispatch #11

Apologies for the late edition of our weekly dispatch. A bit too much pastis over le weekend – that’s the French spirit and not the Gregg’s delicacy obvs !

MARKS OF EXTINCTION

Marks 004

So farewell then to Birkenhead’s Marks and Spencer. And what a sorry sight you leave behind. No more sourdough bread and sturdy gussets. Even the intervention of Birkenhead MP Frank Field couldn’t save it from extinction. Is Frankenfield losing his touch ? After failing to get ‘Sir’ Philip Green stripped of his knighthood  and as yet not succeeding in getting car parking for nurses at Arrowe Park Hospital scrapped he’ll have to go back to getting his own way with Wirral Council and DWP .

However the good news for the down town trackie-clad denizens of Birkenhead is that they will be well served by JD Sports moving to larger ,refurbished premises.

USING OUR IMAGINATION

Imagine Wirral

Although being a contributor to the cultural life of Wirral (!) we unfortunately couldn’t attend the February launch of the Wirral Council programme Imagine Wirral which apparently is about celebrating culture, creativity and ideas. Other than the re- branding of ‘The Leisure Peninsula’ and the website there hasn’t been an awful lot going on at #ImagineWirral since its launch so we’re left using our imagination as to what it’s all about – other than promoting established events and gegging in with a bit of opportunistic branding. If Wirral Council leisure guru Cllr Christine Spriggs could enlighten us further we’d appreciate it……

POTHOLE OF THE WEEK

So with the news that central government has allocated some money from its £100 million pothole fund to Liverpool City Region out of which Wirral Council gets a whopping £184,000 (which judging by the state of Wirral’s roads we all know won’t go very far), especially when we consider this example sent to us from Tranmere :

Pothole 002

HUB OF THE WEEK

Excellent work here from the Peel Group. There are so many buzzword bingo boxes ticked with our headline of the year so far:

Exciting new ‘pop up’ leisure hub for Wirral Waters

As an added bonus there’s the obligatory artist’s impression :

Float on

Find it in all its glory here

and finally….. HOLE OF THE WEEK

Yes – we’re sure you’ve all seen the guy having sex with a hole on the Brackenwood golf course. As this is a family blog (!) we’ll leave you to find the footage on Youtube for yourself. But when it comes to leisure and celebrating culture, creativity and ideas on Wirral perhaps we can expect find it , er,popping up on the Imagine Wirral website soon!

Frank Field : Fearless or Shameless ?

Now we’ve imagined that we would meet a grisly end courtesy of either a failed brakes incident as Her Ladyship and I cruised La Grande Corniche or a like a deadlier version of the opening scene to the film ‘Sexy Beast’ as we lounged in the Mediterranean sun.

However it would seem our readers have other ideas. Are you really trying to induce a coronary? We say this as we’ve received pictures from a Mail On Sunday reader – we’re a broad church and we don’t judge – yeah right! we hear you cry- but that particular publication isn’t usually part of our reading matter , especially when it regularly features their ‘pet’ Labour politician Frank Field.

Last Sunday’s edition exceeded itself as it features a full page spread of our beloved MP for Birkenhead under the headline – ” Fearless Frank : How I brought TWO Philip Greens down to size” and where we find Frankenfield adopting a macho stance (or as close an approximation as he can manage).

Fearless frank 002

The TWO Philip Greens involved are the former boss of BHS , ‘Sir’ Philip Green and the Carillion CEO of the same name who isn’t a knight of the realm . Frankenfield is wringing every last ounce of self-aggrandizing publicity out of this isn’t he?  How ‘fearless’ do you have to be when you’re the chair of Work and Pensions Select Committee and what is it with Frankenfield and Greens? – beit Dave, Philip or the Green Party? Perhaps ‘Dear Papa’ forced him to eat his greens and he’s held a grudge ever since. And if there’s one thing we know about Foodbank Frank is that he ‘bears more grudges than lonely high court judges’  .

The hagiographic article written by the clearly impressionable William Turvill is jampacked with early entries for the Leaky Awards ‘ “Quote of the Year”.

Now if questions  A) and B) were posed to Wirral Council, Grant Thornton etc; instead of untouchable ,distant but headline-grabbing multi-millionaires we might have more respect for him*

nb – let’s be honest it’ll be a cold day in hell when we have any respect for Frank Field

A)

Fearless frank 008

B)

Fearless frank 011

Fearless frank 010

But our absolute favourite quote was this :

Fearless frank 006

To which we would like to respond and say : Be careful what you wish for Frankie-baby! Although it must be great when Wirral Council (or rather their council taxpayers) are picking up the bill as a result of your scheming ways!

Election Selection : Week 2

Corbyn Street 011

So how are you good people bearing up to the pressing of the flesh and unexpected visits from strangers suddenly seeking your votes to keep them in the easy life to which they have become accustomed? Sickening isn’t it?

Fear not – Wirral Leaks is here to delve into the dark depths of the democratic process and reveal what an utter sham modern politics has become.

Blonde Ambition Revisited

We note that Wirral West political failure Esther McVey has landed on her kitten heels yet again and inherited the safe Tory seat of Tatton previously occupied by former Chancellor George Osborne. Decorum prevents us from commenting further -otherwise c’s and t’s would abound. And we’re not talking Conservative or Tories!

http://www.wirralglobe.co.uk/news/15250166.Ex_Wirral_West_MP_Esther_McVey_to_contest_George_Osborne___s_seat/

Corbyn Street

As you can see from our main picture , one of the first streets you enter when you cross the border from Birkenhead into Wallasey is funnily enough called Corbyn Street.

So let’s start off with the battle for Wallasey. Not between the political parties but the in-fighting within the Wallasey Constituency Labour Party (CLP). Let’s hope they’ve called a ceasefire in the run up to the General Election (GE). After Brickgate, and the sudden suspension of Wallasey CLP members for false allegations of homophobia and just when current incumbent Angela Eagle declared her challenge to Jeremy ‘Jezza’ Corbyn’s leadership we now understand Wallasey CLP will not meet until after the GE. How convenient for political opportunist Ange seen here slumming it over the weekend at the Typhoo factory in Moreton

Ange - Typhoo

You only get an OMFG with Typhoo. Ange covers up – and not for the first time!

Premature Electioneering

Of course Ange is a rank amateur when it comes to local politicking. However the master of the genre, Birkenhead MP Frank Field (aka Frankenfield)  is showing signs of slacking. Has he peaked too soon ? ( oo- er missus!). He’s already called up the Green card ( yawn!) and attacked an easy target in the rotund shape of  ‘Sir’ Philip Green.

http://www.wirralglobe.co.uk/news/15242568.Frank_Field_says_Sir_Philip_Green____could_still_lose_knighthood_year_after_BHS_collapse___/

The tittylipped billionaire peer of the realm immediately hit back and said Frankenfield was using him as a ‘political football’. If ‘Sir’ Philip lived on Wirral instead of sailing around on his yacht in the Med he would understand that it is what Frankenfield does best #Wirralgate!

http://www.wirralglobe.co.uk/news/15246425.Sir_Philip_Green_accuses_Frank_Field_of_using_him_as____political_football___/

All we will say is that those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. As far as we’re concerned Field is currently camped (no pun intended) in Sefton Park’s Palm House.

Needless to say Frankenfield has already called the ‘starving mites’ into the political equation.

http://www.wirralglobe.co.uk/news/15250260.Parents_in_Birkenhead_going_without_food_to_feed_their_children_in_school_holidays/

The only place he has left to go is anti-social behaviour. To which we can only say has he checked out the Birkenhead CLP lately? If he has he must realise that ASB (#Foulkesy etc;) is essential to keeping this vile hypocrite in power.

The Ugly Truth

ugly-sisters

Do you think Frank Field was forced to eat sprouts as a child ?

We ask this as he seems to have a deep aversion to greens. First it was Wirral Council Chief Officer Dave Green ,then it was the local Green Party which brought on a funny turn and now dragging every last ounce out of the ‘Sir’ Philip Green BHS scandal Fairy Godfather Frankenfield does what he does best –  being a world class hypocrite and asking for big fines for people who – legally if not morally – have done nothing wrong.

http://www.wirralglobe.co.uk/news/14979464.Frank_Field_urges_billion_pound_fines_to_prevent_repeat_of_BHS_pensions__disaster_/

He’s big on morality is Frankenfield – as long it’s not his own and those he’s protecting. If we didn’t dislike the ugly face of capitalism ‘Sir’ Phil  so much we’d be straight on to his solicitor Schillings with the ugly truth about what Frankenfield has been up to round here.

Lest we forget this involves St. Frank of the Foodbanks trying to get council taxpayers to stump up a bung to protect his Plug ugly* political agent Cllr George Davies (see above) and prevent an highly incriminating recording ending up in the public domain.

Here’s a thought – how about the local Labour group paying the group of complainants with the Wirralgate tapes and not the long suffering local Council Taxpayers ?

We say this as apparently the Wirralgate scandal is ‘live and sensitive’. Ironically we only know this because of a Freedom of Information request on What Do They Know. Needless to say Wirral Council have denied the release of the Nick Warren investigation report that will explain fully and without undue influence what all the fuss has been about all these years – yeah , right!

https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/nick_warren_investigation_report#incoming-909829

What could be the possible explanation for the ongoing delay with resolving this case?.

Here’s our guess – current Council Chief Officers Eric Robinson, Joe Blott and especially Surjit Tour and David Armstrong all must know they’ll be tainted forever if they capitulate the immoral demands of the moral crusader Frankenfield. We’ll reluctantly give former Wirral Council CEO Graham Burgess aka Burgesski his due – he wasn’t prepared to be blackmailed by Frankenfield about a £48,000 payment to his ‘special friend’ because allegedly she was bullied and harassed by the other ugly sister in this sordid scenario – Foulkesy.

Have you ever known such a sleazepit in your entire life?

It all makes ‘Sir’ Philip Green look like Mother Theresa ( who as far as we’re concerned was no saint anyway

*The Plug uglies were of course an American street gang who were referred to as a political club. We couldn’t think of a more apt description for local politicians!

Green/Field & The Napoleon Complex

Frank_nap

We couldn’t let  yesterday’s Parliamentary debate on the stripping “Sir” Philip Green of his title for alleged “asset stripping” pass without comment.

Whilst we witnessed Birkenhead MP Frank Field plough the fertile Green fields , what you don’t see below is the question raised by the Labour MP for Hartlepool  who asked about the role played by Green’s advisors in the BHS debacle and specifically Grant Thornton ( who also just happen to be Wirral Council’s auditors) .

Of course Frankenfield moved swiftly on – not wanting to deflect from the pantomime villainry being played out in Parliament and pursuing the frankly lame Napoleon figure comparisons. We couldn’t help commentating that it takes one to know one .

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0801xbl/thursday-in-parliament-20102016

Now I think we can all agree that “Sir” Philip Green is bad to the bone – the ugly face (and boy do we mean ugly) of capitalism. But beyond the political grandstanding is he any worse than the hypocrites in the Houses of Parliament all too ready to denounce his decadent ways?

Let’s remember , as far as we know, Green has not broken any laws . Can Frankenfield say the same ?- as far as we’re concerned he’s definitely aided and abetted one.

And let’s also remember who makes the laws  – yes that’s right MPs !. So what if  Green played fast and loose with the Companies Act – who’s fault is that?

It is well to remember that we live in a complex world and that traditional notions of good and evil no longer apply . It is your solemn duty to always, ALWAYS challenge the perceived notion of who are the good guys just as ‘The Professor ‘ reminds us in a postscript to his erudite report which we published earlier this week:

The official National Evaluation of the Troubled Families Programme
, suppressed for over a year, has just been published after threats from the House of Commons  Public Accounts Committee. The current claim locally and nationally is that over 90% of ‘families from hell’ had been ‘turned around’ from lives of crime, addiction and worklessness. But the evaluation concludes that :
‘There were no impacts identified for housing, employment and job-seeking,
anti-social behaviour and crime, school behaviour and attendance, health,
drug or alcohol abuse, family dynamics or well-being.’
Neither was there any reduction in family benefits claimed… no money was
saved. Yet Coalition and current government claims are that 99% of evil families
were successfully ‘turned around’ and £1.2 billion pounds was ‘saved’. In March
2015 the minister responsible, Eric Pickles, bragged about this TFP ‘triumph’ and
several MPs rose to congratulate him…and to remind him that sanctions based
Family Intervention was a New Labour invention. Guess who joined in? Yes, that
hounder of the undeserving poor, Frank Field. He said
‘On behalf of my constituents, many of whom now have a more peaceful existence,
may I also, through him, thank the front line workers who have brought about
these changes? …[Locally] there were other scallywags who could not be bothered
to feed their children.’
                                                           Hansard, March 10th 2015 , column 163
Recall that a majority of these families living in poverty had serious mental and physical
illnesses and disabilities but only ~6% of adults had ASB reports before project entry.
Only 1.2% of children had ABCs. More to the point perhaps, the official report found
no evidence for reductions in the already low incidence of crime or ASB or
truanting  yet Frank says ‘many’ of his constituents now have ‘a more  peaceful
existence’. Clearly Frank is hallucinating yet again. Perhaps Frank is ‘troubled’ and
needs help? If he had a family we could sign him up to the TFP phase 2 which locally
will cost us several million pounds …but the official evidence says it would do him,
or any others among the local ‘troubled’, absolutely no good at all.
